Kendra and Kaylana

Kathy asked me to take some photos of her girls today and I had to post these two while I finish editing. The girls are so cute! I met Kathy in Haiti 2 years ago in October when she was picking Kaylana up from GLA.

Aug 21

Aug 21 2006--Karla and I left for Haiti. She was staying for 6 days, I was staying for 3 months.Aug 21 2007--I left for Haiti and stayed for 9 monthsAug 21 2008--I didn't leave for Haiti :(

I've missed the Fall season the past 2 years while I was in Haiti but will be here for it this year. I still don't think I've fully adjusted to being in Michigan. But maybe that is a good thing.
The leaves are starting to change color already and the nights are very cool (48F tonight!) and I'm already dreading the cold weather that is to come.
Classes start a week from tomorrow. yikes. Soon my schedule will be crazy! When my friend is off of maternity leave I will have her baby from 6:30am - 4pm MWF, 2 little boys on Tues, and 2 other little boys on Thursday. Then class is Mon, Tues, Thurs evenings til 9:15.

Help send Maddie and Parker to school!

email from Sheila this morning:

Good Morning!
Maddie and Parker started school on Tuesday and are very excited not to be the new kids any more. Being new was a hard one for them but they have done great and have lots of new friends and have connected well with our life here in Haiti because of school. In the past I have mentioned the need for a sponsor for Maddie and Parker to go to school here. To be honest our support has not been enough to cover our cost of living here and school. The school (QCS) has been very kind to us about our payments and is also willing to put our feelers for a sponsor for us. So far, we have not come up with any leads. Maybe you guys now of a family, a church or a business that could sponsor them for school? Here is what we need: Help with school for Maddie and Parker - tuition is $885.00 per month including a hot lunch. If you would like to learn more about their school you can find them on-line at Quisqueya Christian School. Thank you for your help!! Blessings, Sheila God's Plumbline Ministries - Dan, Sheila, Alyssa, Madisen and Parker If you'd like to help send Maddie and Parker to school you can email me at jmm_10486@yahoo.com or Sheila at godsplumbline@yahoo.com

FINALLY together again

The 5 of us met our Freshman year at Cornerstone University three years ago. It's pretty rare that we all get to hang out at the same time since we have such crazy schedules (and one of us may have been in another country for the better part of a year...) but when we finally make it work it's great to be able to catch up with everyone. Yesterday was another bridal shower for Laura and afterwards we all went to the beach.

Sanderson is in France!

I received an email this morning from Catherine. I met Catherine in 2006 when I was working at GLA. I worked with Sanderson those first 3 months at GLA and he was definitely a favorite of mine!
Dear Jess,I hope everything is okay for you..... I just picked up at the airport this morning.... your baby ;-)..... Sanderson ! His mom and I are friends and I drove them to the train station to go home. He is soooooooooooooo cute, looks very happy, shy but happy !Hope to read you soon.Catherine

Congrats Brendon and Sarah!!

Sarah and I have been friends since...forever. We knew each other in elementary school (she's a year ahead of me) and hung out some but didn't really start becoming good friends until the summer before my freshman year of High School. We became best friends and did everything together. Throughout the last seven years Sarah has always been a great friend and I love her dearly!
Tonight was Sarah's wedding and it was BEAUTIFUL! It was a pretty surreal feeling watching one of my good friends get married! She looked amazing and I couldn't be happier for her and Brendon!

Sarah- I love you and I'm so thankful for your friendship!
